Boat-building Academy
The proposal for this project is located at Shoreham-by-Sea in the Adur District of West Sussex. The development of Shoreham evolves around its harbor and port since the Norman's established Shoreham as an important haven. However, the town is no longer flourished in their glory and it's rich history had somewhat been overlooked. Hence question of architectural identity and character of the town arises when derive was taken place at the site. By developing a looking device, viewers are challenged to question their own perception and reality in hopes to trace back Shoreham's lost identity. As a result, the preposition of this project is to create a place that served as the heart of town. Boat-building Academy is then proposed as a place for the community to learn wood-working skill that has been passed down through generations as well as enjoying annual boating activities along River Adur. Brief as follows:
• highlighting and celebrating the art of shipbuilding craftsmanship in the town that was once famous for building Royal Navy ships.
•to give opportunity for the craftsmen to practice their skill and showcase their work.
• educating the community about the history of shipbuilding in Shoreham and passing down tradition of boat making skills.
• to strengthen the identity of Shoreham.
• Provide space for locals to build their own crafts.
• A platform for Shoreham's water sport and boating events.
